What is a style personality?
How can it help us understand our style better?
A style personality helps us to understand why we gravitate towards some styles rather than others. There are six different personalities that shop, dress, and work in different ways. Understanding our style personalities is one of the keys to gaining confidence in our style. Which is why discovering your style personality is one of the first things we identify when you come in to a style consultation.
This was one of those groundbreaking moments for me on my journey to confidence in clothing. I grew up playing sports and always went for what was comfortable. If it itched or was too tight I wouldn’t wear it! So that made me think I didn’t have any sort of “style”. But it turns out I do! And knowing my personality helped me to explore and push my comfort zone a bit more because I actually understand my style personality!
So what are the six style personalities?
The Romantic
Romantics are all about the feminine detail! Always put together, romantics tend to wear clothing with details like puff sleeves, floral patterns, and lace.
The Natural
Naturals are our no fuss group! Keep it simple, keep it comfy is their motto. When shopping, Naturals like to be minimalist and low-key.
The Dramatic
Dramatics love owning the room when they walk in. They tend to prefer bolder and brighter patterns and colors, as long as they make a statement!
The City Chic
City Chics tend to follow style trends rather than high fashion! Generally preferring well-coordinated colors rather than the bolder colors and prefer a simple yet elegant look.
The Classic
Classics like it neat and simple. Sticking to their tried and true, Classics will tend to buy well coordinated and versatile items.
The Creative
Creatives love scoring a unique find at thrift store or in vintage shops! Creatives tend to think of fashion as an art form and form of self expression, preferring unique and different pieces.
There are our six style personalities! Now, you may be reading through them and thinking that more than one sounds like you. And that is probably the case! I myself am a strong Natural, but with Romantic and Dramatic tendencies. The test we take in the style consultation is specifically designed to show us how we fit in all personalities so that we can have an encompassing understanding of our style personalities.
But why is all this important?
Because knowledge is CONFIDENCE! And understanding our style personalities is the first step, just as it is often the first thing we consciously or subconsciously look at when shopping. Plus it’s a lot of fun!
